Native New Yorker Deirdre Savoy spent her summers on he shores of Martha's Vineyard, soaking up the sun and scribbling in one of her many notebooks. It was here that she first started writing romance as a teenager. The island proved to be the perfect setting for her first novel, SPELLBOUND, published by BET in 1999.
Since then Deirdre has published more than a dozen books and two novellas, all of which have garnered critical acclaim and honors. Deirdre has won two prestigious Emma awards. Her work has been featured in a variety of publications, including Black Issues Book Review, Romantic Times, Affaire de Coeur and Blackboard Bestsellers List.
Deirdre lives in Bronx, New York with her husband and their two children. She enjoys reading, dancing, calligraphy and "wicked" crossword puzzles.
Praise for Ms. Savoy's work:
Deirdre Savoy takes the good, the bad, and the ugly and creates a masterpiece
of fiction that takes you on an emotional rollercoaster that throws you
for a loop. Her characters are well defined and ones you care about, and
others, the dastardly villains, who you?d like to take a long walk off
a short pier. HOLDING OUT FOR A HERO combines mighty fine writing with
a stunning cast in a compelling plot. Brava Ms. Savoy for giving your readers
what they know is top-notch storytelling!
-- Suzanne Coleburn, Reader to Reader Reviews
Savoy's compelling romance with its prickly but good-to-the-core protagonists
and delightful secondary characters will keep readers enthralled, and eagerly
anticipating the forthcoming sequel.
- Diana Tixier Herald, Booklist on Could it be Magic?
I have not been swayed from my original opinion of Ms. Savoy and her talent!
She is an excellent storyteller. Her writing draws me in and lets me be
a part of the story. Her characters have depth and feeling that are rare.
I have told all my friends to read her and will continue. If you are looking
for a read that will sweep you off your feet, this just may be The One!
-- 4 1/2 Plugs, Thia McClain, The Romance Reader's Connection on Not the
One
This is an excellent romance combined with a creative, complex mystery.
A thoroughly entertaining page-turner of a story.
--Romantic Times BookClub on Lady in Red
Once again, Deirdre Savoy has entertained readers with her stunning story-telling
skills. The storyline is well-written and full of characters you will come
to love and some you will hate. Although this novel is filled with a lot
of suspense, the romance between Liza and Jim stands at the forefront.
LOOKING FOR LOVE IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES will be enjoyed by readers for
years to come.
-- 4 Stars, Pamela Bolden, RAWSISTAZ.com
This is a multilayered story with elements of both suspense and romance
replete with mind-blowing sex scenes. The cast includes an array of characters--another,
possibly related, murder victim, and a priest who proves the theory of "six
degrees of separation." Savoy knows her city, and the landscape of
New York is a pivotal part of the story. Once again she has proven that
romantic suspense is her forte.
--4 1/2 Stars Dera Williams, Affaire de Coeur
I truly enjoyed reading BODY OF LIES, it was hard to put down. The description
of areas in the neighboring boroughs surrounding New York allows you to
picture it clearly in your mind. The plot and the sub-plots keep you wondering
what is going to happen next, and even when you think you have it figured
out, you realize you are wrong. If you enjoy a little romance with you
mystery, you will enjoy this book.
